Abstract
|
|
|
Background:
@EN The present study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of hepatitis C virus antibodies and action of hepatits C virus infection in paitnets with alcoholic liver disease.
@ES Methods:
@EN Alcoholic liver disease was confirmed by history of alcohol ingestion and liver biopsy. Anti-HCV antibody was assayed. by the ELISA method (Abbott(r)).
@ES Results:
@EN The Results were as follows.
@EN 1) The overall prevalence of hepatitis C virus antibodies were 5.6% (4 of 71 patients) in alcoholic liver disease.
2) Anti-HCV antibody was not found in patients with alcoholic chronic acitive hepatitis.
3) In early form of alcoholic liver dieseases, scuh as fatty liver (0.11:0%), anti-HCV antibody was not found. But. anti-HCV antibody was found only in advanced form of alcoholic liver diseases. such as alcoholic hepatitis (1/3 : 33.3%),
alcoholic
hepatic fibrosis (2/30 : 6.7%), alcoholic cirrhosis (1/18: 0.5).
@ES Conclusion:
@EN The association betwee a role in the progression of alcoholic liver disease and hepatitis C virus infection needed further case controlled studies. However, hepatitis C virus may not play a major role in the pathogeneis of alcoholic liver
disease.
